revisiting oldish music

i truly think this is one of the most overlooked records of the past few years. i love how he combines simple and beautiful melodies with the complex and dark lyrics. 'lionkiller' is one of my favorites because of its driving and droning feel. plus his lyrics are particularly engrossing. seriously, though, every track off of 'dropping the writ' is a potential favorite. literally, every track.

why the internet is so cool...

last night i got all sorts of new great music. close friends know i've been lezzing out on some late 70s disco. i got some great tunes from cerrone, peter cowley, and donna summer. oh and this old single by dinosaur called 'kiss me again.'

i'll be recreating the sex-driven drug-loaded NYC disco vibe this saturday night at El Rincon in the mission (minus the drugs). it's a pretty sleazy cuban food joint.. so think studio 54 minus the models and with tons of spicy tostadas. also, kontrol after hours party at the end up... should be a good night!
