Ecstatic Sunshine opened for White Williams at a free show at Studio B in Brooklyn Sunday, February 10. I'd only heard of them before, but was really impressed by the show. The setup was a guitarist, a guy on pedals on his knees, and a guy on pedals at a stand. When they were ready to start, the guitarist launched full force into lightning-speed guitar strumming, and dude on the floor entered a fervent rhythm of up and down bobbing while assumably twisting some knobs, although I couldn't exactly see from my spot on the floor. It was a really nice pedal-heavy, drawn out yet high speed wave of guitar noise, and the band's energy made it really electric and easy to enjoy.
When listening though, it might be necessary to take into account the fact that they are recently minus one guitarist, and so the sound differed at least somewhat from recordings I've heard. Maybe we'll start continue to hear the new sound of Ecstatic Sunshine in these days to come..
